a. (x-1)/2 + (x+1)/3 = 3(x-1)/6 + 2(x+1)/6
=(3x-3 + 2x +2)/6
=(x-1)/6
b. (3a^2 +ab)/ab –(3a^2-ab)/5ab = (15a^2 +5ab -3a^2 +ab)/5ab
= (12a^2 + 6ab)/5ab
